My Trip to England

Here are the particularly good and interesting pix from when my wife and I went to London and Paris from 4/6/07 to 4/12/07.

Me in London

On some random street

The London Eye

Big ol' Ferris Wheel

Big Ben

Okay, technically the Parliament Building, but...

Parliament Building

The other side

Cromwell Statue

What a great guy, huh?

King Richard I

That's the Richard of Robin Hood fame

Cool lion

Guarding the Parliament Building

Town Crier

He didn't want us to take his picture

Horse Guard

Near 10 Downing Street

Karen in Trafalgar Square

Standing in front of the National Gallery

Trafalgar Square

And a double decker bus

Trafalgar Square

They just can't get rid of the pigeons!

Me in Le Musee d'Orsay

That's in Paris

Le Musee d'Orsay

It used to be a train station

April in Paris

View of Paris from inside the d'Orsay

Karen on the Seine

Well, technically on a bridge on the Seine...

Me and Karen in Paris

Taken at arm's length

Tuileries Garden

Nifty fountain, eh?

Tuileries Garden

Nifty statue, eh? (Suddenly I'm Canadian)

Tuileries Garden

I'm so ashamed - there's a pigeon on my head!

Arc du Carrousel

The back of it, with the Pyramid in the center

Me in the Tuileries

Reading my Rick Steves book

Louvre Pyramid

If you've seen the Da Vinci Code you'll recognize this.

Top of the Arc du Carrousel

Look it up on Wikipedia to find out more! :)

Front of the Arc du Carrousel

La Tour Eiffel

Or the Eiffel Tower in English

La Tour Eiffel

Better picture of it

Winston Churchhill

Weird to see a statue of him in Paris after just having left London

Cool building

Dunno what it is, though...

Cool building's door

It also has a cool door!

Louis Vuitton

On the Champs-Elysees - notice the line to get in!

Arc de Triomphe

On the other side of the Champs

Ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe

Don't know what it was, but doesn't that guy look like Colin Powell? It isn't, though...

Me and Karen at St. Paul's

Back in London now

The dreaded stairs at St. Paul's!

They don't look so bad now, but you try climbing them! Many people couldn't, although Karen had no problem with them.

St. Paul's

It's hard to get a good front picture, and this shows where you can stand outside at the top.

Slide exhibit at Tate Modern

Yes, it's an actual working slide...

Slide exhibit at Tate Modern

... and there's me going down. See the top of my head? :)

Slide exhibit at Tate Modern

There were several - this is the one on the 5th floor

Millenium Bridge

Looking out from the Tate Modern

Martin Luther King, Jr.

Statue over the exit of Westminster Abbey

Wider view

Just to prove it really is Westminster Abbey :)

Changing of the guards

The interesting part of it, anyway

Changing of the guards

Just to show that they move!

Changing of the guards

The unintersting (and nearly invisible) part

Changing of the guards

The horsey guys! w00t!

Wellington Arch

In Hyde Park

Me eating at Wagamama

It's a really good pan-Asian noodle bar with several franchises in London

Strange signs

There were some strange signs in London

Near the Gatwick Airport

We ventured out to find cough medicine and saw this nice little farm
