Finish up the Public Speaking video.

Wednesday
Watch and critique some videos from last year. No make-up work (modified 5/6: There will be make-up work, but I’m not sure what it will be yet), but you WILL be presenting your speech on Monday, May 10 since no other spaces are available (except in a couple of classes).

Look them up on Youtube.  Write something about each sketch that shows that you’ve watched the clip.

Begin watching Public Speaking video.

No make-up, but there were a lot of good tips.  I’d recommend either getting notes from someone who took them or coming by after school to watch it.

Wednesday
These can all be found on Youtube if you need to make them up:

“James Bond” – Scouting for Girls (look for British references, not terms)
“Let’s Dance to Joy Division” – The Wombats (look for British references, not terms) (only 3rd, 5th, and 6th periods)

Questions for songs
Write the name of the song, then answer these questions about it:
1. What British terms (or British references) did you notice (name at least two)?
2. What is the song about?
3. What do you think of the song?

Thursday

Video (TV Show) Make-Up Work

If you are missing any video assignments, there are three ways to make them up:

1. Come by after school to watch the episode and answer the questions.
2. Watch the episode on your own and answer the questions (see me to get the questions; you’re on your own on finding the video).
3. Write a 250 (minimum) word essay describing one of your favorite TV shows (or one episode of a show).  It does not have to be on the air now.  Be sure to include a word count.

If you miss something that is two days long, you need to make up the ENTIRE video even if you were here for one day (you only have to watch the part you missed, however).

If you miss both days of a two day video and you choose option 3, you’ll have to write two essays.

Song Make-Up Work

If you are missing any music assignments, you can come by after school or you can find the video (or song) on your own.  See me for the questions for the song.

Monday
Watch Blackadder, “Sense and Senility.”
Make-up: The usual.

Tuesday
Watch The Office (UK), “Downsize” (the first episode).
Make-up: The usual.

Thursday
Finish up Doctor Who (except 6th period).
Make-up: See me for details.

Friday
Silent reading (except 6th p. who finished up Doctor Who).
Make-up: Come by after school and read for 1/2 hour (except for 6th p – see me).

Tuesday
Speech and Outside Reading requirements. Watch a couple of speeches from last year.
No make-up work, but you’ll need the handout and you’re responsible for knowing about the requirements.

Wednesday
Begin watching “The Shakespeare Code,” an episode of Doctor Who.
